The US Prez says China's Xi Ping gave him a commitment not to invade Taiwan on his watch. And despite all the hyperbole, we are probably at least a decade away, still, from China having the capability, even if it had the desire.

But in my defense, I pitched my Aggressor series about a Taiwan-US-China war in 2039, on the assumption China will want to re-unite its rebel republic with the mainland before its centenary in 2049(a potential deadline mentioned in the Telegraph podcast.)
